MARMOT SPOTTING IN GRANDVALIRA

Have you ever seen a marmot? At Golf Soldeu in Grandvalira, you can spot this diurnal mammal in its native habitat!

The marmot: a high-mountain mammal

Reintroduced to the Pyrenees between 1948 and 1988, marmots have adapted perfectly to their surroundings, creating their own high-mountain environment.

This activity features an interpretative trail on foot, where you can see these little critters as you enjoy an easy walk. You’ll follow the entire perimeter of the golf course, passing by rocky areas, where you’ll be able to spot these mammals sneaking out of their hiding places.

So, although marmot spotting is a self-guided activity, the centre has some information leaflets to help you do it better and understand how it works. You can also borrow some binoculars to help you spot the marmots. You’ll find all this and more at the golf club house.

Other information and interesting facts

You can access the activity via the cable car to the Soldeu golf course.  Although the activity is free to do, you’ll need to buy a foot passenger pass for the cable car, which gives you up to two journeys in each direction, as well as access to other activities in the area.

Finally, the activity takes about 1 and a half to 2 hours to complete and is perfect for families. Little ones will have a great time learning all the secrets of these small Andorran residents.

Come and enjoy a unique experience spotting marmots!
